Oishii Burger

1320 Us Hwy 27 N | Sebring, FL 33870 | (863) 314-9379

Oishii Burger is one of few edible restaurants in the Central Florida area. Most of the area is riddled with chain restaurants and cheap buffet food with early bird specials.

However, Oishii was an incredible treat. Their signature burger was freaking delicious - beef patty, cheese, saute’d onions & peppers & mushrooms and some kind of delicious sauce…oh & that bun is some sort Amish-baked bread…I wasn’t really paying attention when it was being explained to me. I was too busy stuffing my face with this delicious burger. The fries were ace as well. I can’t wait to go back for round two.

The Floridian

39 Cordova St. | St. Augustine, Fl 32084 | 904-829-0655

The Floridian was impressive. The atmosphere is really funky, the food was really tasty and the servers were very patient with us (we were a large party with fussy kids).

I sort-of broke my own rule of not eating ethnic food at a non-ethnic restaurant. I ordered a Florida-style Bánh mì (Vietnamese sandwich). It was fantastic. This colourful and tasty sandwich consists of:

Local pork sausage on a toasted hoagie roll with housemade pickled veggies, cilantro mayo, and zesty slaw

I also got a side of their badass little butternut squash bisque thingie. If you are ever in St. Augustine, give The Floridian a try.

Greek City Cafe Westchase
Westchase is chock full of trendy spots and tasty eateries, but this cafe really holds its own. Compared to the other Greek cafe concepts this one is by far the favorite. The 1/2 Greek salad was plentiful; aioli chicken panini was flavorful and perfectly pressed and the dolmades were stuff to the brim and packed with flavor. It’s a must try if you’re in the area.

WAWA!

Clean store, free coffee (for a limited time) and super-friendly employees… What’s not to love.

I can’t wait to go back and get a shortie, Herr’s chips and a Tasty Cake.

Who knew convenience stores could be enjoyable?

Yummy House

2202 W Waters Ave., Tampa, FL 33604

The look of this place will make you want to run to the nearest PF Changs. Yummy House is authentic, down to the semi-clean dining room, zero-sense decor and roasting ducks (complete with heads) in full view. Still with me?

If you can get past the odd surroundings and a few dead flies on the lazy susan, you will be treated to a delicious Chinese meal. Be sure to bring a small army with you. The portions are meant for someone on the larger side of the gigantor spectrum.

Highlights: Hot & Sour Soup is amazing, Salt & Pepper Calamari is surprisingly addictive and the Singapore Noodles were fun.

While Yummy House could stand a good cleaning (and some decorations), it is better-than-most Chinese restaurants. If you are looking for cleanliness and simulated culture, go to the mall.

Daily Eats
South Howard Ave. Tampa, FL
Don’t let this delicious pesto hummus give you any misconceptions about healthy eating at this place. The hummus was followed by a Hawaiian burger topped with ham, thick grilled pineapple and melted provoline. That burger tag-teamed with burger mac-n-cheese made for a fat-kid’s dream meal.

Ella’s Folk Art Cafe

5119 N. Nebraska Ave; Tampa, Fl 33603; 813-234-1000

Sunday is the best day for brunch. Trying to do brunch any other day is just not ethical.

Ella’s is one of many clutch Tampa places to get your brunch-on. This visit to Ella’s in Seminole Heights, I tried the pulled-pork sandwich. Deary me…It was awesome. For sides, oh yea, I had the bacon mac & cheese. Double-awesome.
