Ashley Street Grille

200 N Ashley Dr., Tampa, FL 33602, (813) 226-4400

Every year, myself and a group of friends put on a conference. Every year we end up going to Ashley Street Grille for late-night eats and drinks. I’ll confess, the food and drinks are nothing amazing. For a hotel restaurant / bar, it will do in a pinch.

However, there are a few key highlights that make this place decent:

- Sweet potato chips / crisps: for the love…these are brilliant. I ate two baskets prior to the main course.
- The view: the patio looking out onto the nasty-ass Hillsborough River is pretty cool.
- The Apple-Chicken Salad Croissant is pretty tasty.
- The bartender is really nice. We see her every year.

Again, this is not the most interesting or fun place to eat or drink in Tampa. It’s a simple first-drink spot if you are in the downtown area for a conference or some boring political convention (ah-hem). For us, it is just routine. We can’t NOT go. The yearly conference wouldn’t be the same.
